Advanced Vehicle Accident Investigation Training

Classes We Offer

EVOC+

EVOC Basic: 

  • Combines classroom instruction with closed-course, hands-on driving.  The course emphasizes vehicle control, collision avoidance, and legal liability
  • 2- day course (16 hours)
  • Agency provides site and apparatus use.  VARs team provides instructors.

EVOC Tiller:

  • Combines classroom instruction with closed-course, hands-on driving for the tiller-tractor.  The course emphasizes teamwork in understanding pivot points, how steering input affects the overall movement of the tiller, the physical boundaries of the truck, the limitations and capabilities of the tractor and tiller, the area of the truck for which each driver is responsible, overcoming blind spots, how to work as a team to control the arc of the truck while backing into tight spaces.  Exercises are designed to promote active communication between the drivers.  For example, when to push, follow, straighten, or steer
  • 4- day course (32 hours)
  • Agency provides site and apparatus use.  VARs team provides instructors.

EVOC Train-the-Trainer

  • Designed to solve your agencies training issues by creating qualified in-house EVOC instructors.
  • Provides students with information on selecting a closed course training site, site safety, setting up a closed course, elements of open road driving, psychological and physiological factors, vehicle dynamics, defensive driving, evaluating students.  Each student will “train” other students in both a classroom lecture and closed-cone course driving exercise.
  • 4-day course (32 hours)
  • Agency provides classroom, EVOC closed-cone course area and agency apparatus.  VARs team provides the instruction 

Driver Operator 1A (Pre-trip, Driving)

  • California State Fire Training certification course focusing on driving, maneuvering, and preventive maintenance of fire apparatus.
  • Aligned with NFPA standard 1002
  • Includes hands-on, closed-cone course driving and fulfills the requirements for a Class C firefighter
  • 5-day course (40 hours)
  • Agency provides the classroom, EVOC closed-cone course area and agency apparatus.  VARs team provides the instruction

Driver Operator 1B (Pumping Operations)

  • California State Fire Training certification course focusing on the construction, operation, and maintenance of fire pumps.

Accident Investigation

VIR breakdown

For agencies starting the program.  VARs team would provide training to personnel and management using the computer application:  How to open the APP, notification of VARs (expectations of Agency), assistance with obtaining perishable data (evidence) prior to departing the scene to ensure no information is lost, intake agency personnel statements, summarize incident, and provide diagram information.  NOTE:  Law Enforcement having jurisdiction has the authority to investigate these incidents.  VARs does not interfere with their process, but instead works you’re your agencies personnel to make sure that all information is obtained in a timely manner while working with Law Enforcement.

Identifying Trends to Produce Agency Training

  • Designed to solve your agencies training issues and risk management.
  • Provides students with information on how trends are identified, how driver training is developed around these trends, interpreting statements and diagrams, how to make effective remediation work for both the driver and the agency, documenting training. 
  • 2-day course (16 hours)
  • Agency provides classroom.  VARs team provides the instruction  

Vehicle Accident Investigation

  • Designed for agencies who aspire to create their own Vehicle Accident Identification team. 
  • Provides the students with information on how to obtain photographic evidence on scene, how to diagram an incident, introduction to the nine-cell matrix, how to interview personnel, how to summarize and incident, the science of human factors.
  • 4-day class (32 hours)
  • Agency provides the classroom, EVOC closed area for reconstruction incident.  VARs team provides the instruction.
